Phosphate Pathway in the Rat Heart

چکیده
To examine whether stimulation of c-adrenergic receptors may affect the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) in the rat heart, norepinephrine (NE) and the c-adrenergic agonist norfenephrine were used. NE was administered as a continuous intravenous infusion in awake rats for 3 days. It stimulated the activity of cardiac glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD), the first and regulating enzyme of the oxidative PPP, in a dose-dependent manner. With the highest dose (0.2 mg * kg` * hr-'), there was also

The Effects of Metabolic Inhibitors on Cultured Rat Heart Cells
Cells derived from neonatal rat heart tissue may be cultured in vitro. These cells retain the ability to spontaneously beat or contract. As the cells age in vitro, the beating rate gradually decreases and eventually stops . This loss of function has been described as dedifferentiation (1) . In the intact, adult, mammalian heart, lipids are the primary source of metabolic energy (2) . Lipids are...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF ENDURANCE TRAINING ON PROTEIN KINASE-B AND MECHANICAL TARGET OF RAPAMYCIN IN THE LEFT VENTRICLE OF THE HEART OF DIABETIC RATS INDUCED BY STREPTOZOTOCIN AND NICOTINAMIDE
Background: The pathway of insulin messengers is so important that diabetes can lead to disruption of this pathway. However, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of endurance training on protein Kinase-B (PKB or AKT) and mechanical target of rapamycin (mTOR) in the left ventricle of the heart of diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin and nicotinamide. Methods: In thi...
متن کاملDifferent pathways of inositol phosphate metabolism in intact neonatal rat hearts and isolated cardiomyocytes.
In most tissues stimulation of the phosphatidylinositol turnover pathway causes release of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate [Ins(1,4,5)P3], which is subsequently metabolized to a wide range of inositol phosphate isomers deriving from both phosphorylation and dephosphorylation reactions. However, addition of noradrenaline to isolated intact neonatal-rat hearts generated only those inositol phosphate...
متن کاملPyrimidine nucleotide synthesis in the normal and hypertrophying rat heart. Relative importance of the de novo and "salvage" pathways.
Radioactive orotic acid incorporation into RNA (de novo pathway of pyrimidine nucleotide synthesis) was considerably lower for rat heart than for rat liver in vivo and in vitro. H uridine ("salvage" pathway) was incorporated into heart RNA to a greater extent than H orotic acid, and the labeling with uridine in the heart exceeded that in the liver. Extracts of heart showed little enzymatic conv...
متن کاملDevelopment of NADPH-producing pathways in rat heart.
The behaviours of the principal NADPH-producing enzymes (glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, cytoplasmic and mitochondrial 'malic' enzyme and NAPD+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase) were studied during the development of rat heart and compared with those in brain and liver. 1. The enzymes belonging to the pentose phosphate pathway exhibit lower activities in h...
